Landlord Referral Program: How CoRent Referrals Work
The CoRent referral page states $1,000 for every host who lists a property with 4 or more bedrooms. Here is how to invite an owner, what the page does not say and how to disclose a reward.

The CoRent landlord referral program pays $1,000 for every host who lists a property with 4 or more bedrooms, according to the referral page. You can invite another owner by email or share your own link. This post explains what the page says, what it does not say, and how to refer someone honestly.
How the landlord referral program works
The referral page states the reward this way: earn $1,000 for every host that lists a property anywhere in the United States with 4 or more bedrooms. That is the only reward the page spells out.
There are two ways to refer someone.
- Invite by email. You enter the person's first name, last name, phone number and email address, then send the invite. The page says the invitee can sign up without a specific link.
- Share a link. You copy your unique referral link and share it with your network or on social media. The page says the link is for anyone to use.
A dashboard on the page tracks three numbers: Active Referrals, Pending Rewards and Total Earned. The page also has an option to add a payout account.
That is the whole program as described. Keep it simple: refer an owner who really has a house to list, and let them decide for themselves.
What the page does not say
Some things are left out of the visible text. Do not assume the answers.
- Who is eligible to refer. The page title mentions renters and hosts, but the only reward stated is for referred hosts.
- What makes a referral count, and at what point a reward moves from pending to earned.
- How and when rewards are paid.
- Whether there is a cap on rewards.
- What counts as a property with 4 or more bedrooms in practice.
The page links to its terms and conditions. Read them before you invite anyone, and ask support at support@corent.ai if a point is unclear. A reward you have not confirmed is not income you can plan around. Nothing here promises a payment.
Who is a good person to refer
The reward applies to a host who lists a property with 4 or more bedrooms. So think of owners you know who have a larger house and might want to rent rooms. A friend with a 3-bedroom house does not fit the reward described on the page, and you should not tell them it does.
Before you send the invite, make sure they understand the basics of CoRent. Here is what the public pages say:
- Hosts list rooms for free and keep 95% of rent. The platform fee is 5% of rent collected.
- There is no booking fee and no management fee.
- Renters verify their ID once, and hosts review each application and decide whom to approve.
- Rent is paid weekly or monthly, and hosts can turn on shared utilities.
- CoRent serves Richmond, Petersburg and Colonial Heights, Virginia.
Point them to the host page and the fees page so they can read the terms for themselves. If they want a full walk-through, send them our guide to renting rooms in your house on CoRent. Do not describe future earnings for them. Let them run their own numbers.
One more point on service area. The reward line on the referral page says "anywhere in the United States," but CoRent's service area today is Richmond, Petersburg and Colonial Heights. Ask support how a house outside that area is handled before you refer it.
Disclose that you may be rewarded
If you share your referral link in public, such as on social media or in a group, be open that you may earn a reward. The Federal Trade Commission explains in its guide on disclosures for social media influencers that you should disclose any incentive or reward you receive for recommending a product, and that financial relationships are not limited to money. It also says a disclosure should be clear and prominent, something that is hard to miss.
A simple line works. For example, you might write: "I may earn a reward if you list a property through my link." Put it where the reader will see it, not buried at the end. This is general information, not legal advice.
It is also good practice with people you know. Tell a friend you may receive a reward if they list a property. Honest recommendations last longer than pushy ones.
A short checklist before you refer
Run through this before you send anything.
- Read the terms linked on the referral page.
- Confirm the owner has a property with 4 or more bedrooms.
- Tell them you may earn a reward.
- Share the facts from the host and fees pages, not promises.
- Send the invite by email, or share your link.
- Check the dashboard for Active Referrals and Pending Rewards.
- Add a payout account if you want to be set up in advance.
If you are a host yourself, you can create a free host account and list your rooms first. If you are new to sharing a house, see our post on house rules for renters.
